Пропаганда української справи в діяльності дипломатичних представництв УНР (1919–1921 рр)

Abstract

The paper analyses propaganda as a distinct dimension of the activity of the diplomatic missions of the Ukrainian National Republic during 1919–1921. It is argued that foreign missions acted not only as political representatives but also as centres of international information work. Their propaganda tools included press publications, interviews, official notes, brochures, and the work of press bureaus. Special attention is paid to the attempts to coordinate foreign information policy and to the project of the Central Information Institute. The study emphasizes that weak communication with the government, lack of funding, and shortage of qualified personnel reduced the efficiency of this work. At the same time, Ukrainian diplomacy managed to secure the visibility of the Ukrainian question in the European information space.
