Robotics in Logistics – From Autonomous Trucks to Amazon's Picking Robots

Abstract

This work provides an overview and comparative analysis of the use of robotic systems in logistics, ranging from automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to modern picking robots used in Amazon warehouses. It examines the main types of logistics robots, their functional capabilities, advantages, and limitations. Particular attention is paid to the role of robotics in improving the efficiency of logistics processes, reducing operating costs, and ensuring the flexibility of warehouse operations within the Industry 4.0 concept. The study's results confirm that the introduction of robotic systems is a key factor in the digital transformation of modern logistics. У цій роботі виконано огляд та порівняльний аналіз застосування робототехнічних систем у сфері логістики – від автономних керованих візків (Automated Guided Vehicles, AGV) до сучасних роботів-комплектувальників, що використовуються на складах компанії Amazon. Розглянуто основні типи логістичних роботів, їхні функціональні можливості, переваги та обмеження. Особливу увагу приділено ролі робототехніки у підвищенні ефективності логістичних процесів, зниженні експлуатаційних витрат та забезпеченні гнучкості складських операцій у межах концепції Industry 4.0. Результати дослідження підтверджують, що впровадження роботизованих систем є одним із ключових чинників цифрової трансформації сучасної логістики.
