Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of filtering and search systems on modern fanfiction platforms. The impact of interface usability on user retention and content search efficiency was investigated. The authors performed a comparative characterization of the functional content and visual arrangement of filter blocks. Key shortcomings of existing solutions were identified, in particular, linguistic heterogeneity, excessive length of panels, and inconvenient division of fandoms by source types. Based on the data obtained, recommendations were formulated for optimizing the UI/UX design of search forms. A model of compact arrangement of elements in several columns with visibility of search results was proposed. The results of the study can be used in the development and improvement of interfaces of literary web portals.
