Abstract

In this paper the axial intensity field distribution of a relatively large rectangular focused aperture is investigated. Graphical dependencies for the shift of the maximum intensity relative to the focal point, the focusing gain, and the focusing depth as functions of the focusing distance are obtained. The presented data allow us to determine the values of the parameters mentioned above for any values of the axial coordinate of the focal point, whether it lies in the Fresnel zone or in the far zone
