Abstract

This paper investigates an approach to the segmentation of surfaces described by functions of two variables with first-kind discontinuities in the function itself or its derivatives of a certain order. The detection of surface features is implemented using the mathematical apparatus of discontinuous splines on a rectangular grid. The primary objective of the research is to develop efficient methods for solving surface segmentation problems, whether defined by continuous functions or represented as digital images. The results obtained are of practical significance for computer vision, digital signal processing, and computer-aided engineering design
