dc.description.abstract	Afghanistan is a totalitarian theocracy and emirate in which the Islamic Taliban have a monopoly on power. Dissent is not tolerated and politics is largely confined to internal Taliban political debates and power struggles. The paper argues that because the government is interim, there is no constitution or other basis for the rule of law. The Taliban government is characterised as a conservative and repressive faction that lacks categories such as human rights, especially when it comes to women
