Abstract

This paper analyzes some methods for reducing the audibility of quantization noise when recording and playing audio signals. The dithering method is used to reduce the correlation of quantization noise with the signal. The noise level in the phonogram increases to +6 dB compared to truncating but such noise has less audibility. For efficient noise spectrum formation it is necessary to generate dithering noise taking into account the initial signal. The quantization noise is shifted to the frequency range of another 15 kHz where the human hearing sensitivity is lowest.
