Abstract

This work describes the comparison of relational and non-relational databases. The basic principles of their work are described. The main differences between them are given: data structure, scaling, flexibility, transaction support, and so on. The advantages and disadvantages of relational and NoSQL databases are determined. The types of NoSQL databases and examples for them are given. The methods of storing information, the main areas of application, as well as the criteria for choosing one or another data store are described
