Virtual reminiscence: reconstructing traditional mexican domestic spaces in immersive environments for cognitive preservation

Abstract

The "Katharsis" project explores applying Virtual Reality Reminiscence Therapy for cultural preservation and memory evocation. This investigation analyzes how virtualized Mexican domestic spaces, econstructing homes from the 1960s–1980s, can serve as a coping resource. It offers young adults an immersive, hyperrealistic, and interactive environment to foster autobiographical memory, introspection, identity continuity, and affective regulation against stress and identity crises.
