Abstract

Directional microphones are widely used in acoustic monitoring and surveillance systems for remote detection of speech signals. Their efficiency is mainly determined by the directivity index, which characterizes the ability to enhance signals from the main direction while suppressing noise from other directions. This paper analyzes the relationship between the directivity index and the effective distance of acoustic signal reception. Different types of directional microphones, including linear arrays, tubular microphones, and reflector systems, are considered to evaluate their potential capabilities in practical applications.
