Abstract

The paper examines the phenomenon of social comparison in the digital environment and its impact on the psychological well-being of network users. It analyzes how social network algorithms and content curation transform traditional comparison mechanisms, resulting in a systematic distortion of reality. A correlation was identified between the dominance of upward comparison and increased levels of anxiety and symptoms of depression. Key factоrs that moderate this influence were identified based on modern research. The necessity of developing digital literacy and critical thinking to prevent the negative consequences of social network use was substantiated.
