Abstract

This study examines the impact of totalitarian ideology on the cultural sphere in the 20th century, specifically censorship, the fight against modernism, the persecution of artists of Jewish descent, and the establishment of an official artistic canon oriented toward classical aesthetics. It examines the transformation of art into an instrument of political propaganda and the formation of ideological myths. It argues that under totalitarian conditions, art can serve not only as an aesthetic value but also as a vehicle for historical memory and a testament to cultural violence.
