Abstract

The use of the lidar equation assumes the total exposure of the volume exposed to laser radiation in the field of view of the optical telescope of the receiver. To obtain altitude profiles of the density of the atmosphere by the lidar method, a backscattering signal is used. A laser with a narrow radiation pattern is used as an emitter in the lidar transmitter. The intensity in the cross section of the emitted pulse has a Gaussian shape. In this case, it should be limited to a uniform distribution of energy in the beam cross section. The vertical propagation of a monochromatic wave in the atmosphere is accompanied by various scattering methods.
