Abstract

This work evaluates the threat of acoustic information leakage through optical mouse sensors. Modern high-performance mice act as highly sensitive vibrometers, capturing sound-induced surface vibrations. The physical mechanism of transforming acoustic waves into cursor displacement coordinates is analyzed. A mathematical model for discrete signal recovery is discussed, addressing the challenges of non-uniform sampling and quantization noise. An experimental setup is proposed to capture these micro-vibrations using Pythonbased tools. The collected raw data undergoes interpolation and Wiener filtering to reconstruct the audio signal. The paper highlights the feasibility of this side channel attack and the need for new security policies
