Abstract

The formulation of the problem of estimating the state of the steady flow distribution model of a water supply network is considered and a method of its solution is proposed. The maximum likelihood method is used to construct the estimation procedure. The formal formulation of the problem leads to a conditional optimization problem. The use of topological properties of the network and the method of selection of independent variables allows us to reduce the minimization problem with nonlinear constraints to the problem of unconditional optimization only with respect to independent variables.
