Abstract

Any autonomous system of electric power supplies includes batteries that have charged from various sources of energy: solar batteries, a windgenerator, a diesel generator, a hydroturbine, etc. Therefore, a device is needed that will monitor this charging process. Such devices are called – charge controller. It is extremely important to use charge controllers in systems where a lead-acid battery is used (the most common batteries today). This type of battery is extremely bad for both deep discharge and recharge. When recharging these batteries, the battery life is significantly shortened or even it can fail. When the battery is fully charged, the current must be limited until the charging current is completely terminated.
